Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 8 oz shell pasta
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter for sautéing
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour can substitute for gluten-free
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

Preparation

  • Cook the shell pasta according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat for about 1-2 minutes until it starts to foam.

Making Cheese Sauce

  • Stir in the flour and cook for another 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
  • Gradually pour in the milk while whisking continuously; whisk for about 4-5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  • Lower the heat and add shredded cheddar cheese, salt, pepper, and garlic powder into the thickened mixture, stirring until smooth.

Combining

  • Combine the cheese sauce with the cooked pasta, stirring gently for about 1-2 minutes to evenly coat.

Serving

  • Serve warm alongside your favorite protein, like grilled chicken or sautéed shrimp.
