Ingredients
  

For the burgers

  • 1 lb 80/20 ground beef Use high-fat ground beef for juicier burgers.
  • 1 tsp salt Season generously.
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 4 slices American cheese Can substitute with cheddar or Swiss.
  • 4 pieces brioche buns Any sturdy burger bun can be used.
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise Base for the secret sauce.
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp pickle juice

Toppings

  • lettuce
  • tomato slices
  • pickles
  • onions

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your grill or skillet to medium-high heat.
  • In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, Dijon mustard, and pickle juice to create the secret sauce.
  • Form the ground beef into four loose balls and season generously with salt and pepper.

Cooking

  • Place each ball on the hot grill or skillet and smash down firmly to form patties. Cook for about 3 minutes until crispy edges form.
  • Flip the patties and immediately top each with a slice of cheese; cook for an additional minute until melted.

Assembly

  • Assemble the burgers by spreading secret sauce on both sides of the brioche buns and layering with patties and desired toppings.

Notes

Serve hot and fresh. Optional: pour extra secret sauce on the side. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat on a skillet.
