Ingredients
  

Burger Patties

  • 1 lb ground beef Use 80/20 fat content for juiciness
  • 4 slices cheese (cheddar or American) Feel free to experiment with other types of cheese
  • 4 pieces burger buns Toast for extra flavor

Toppings

  • to taste lettuce, tomato, onion Fresh toppings enhance flavor
  • to taste pickles Optional but recommended
  • to taste smash burger sauce (mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, relish) Customize the sauce to your liking
  • salt and pepper to taste Season both sides of the patties

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Divide the ground beef into 8 equal portions and shape them into balls.

Cooking

  • Place the balls onto the hot grill or skillet and smash them down to form patties. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip the patties.
  • Place a slice of cheese on each patty and continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted.
  • Toast the burger buns on the grill or skillet.

Assembly

  • Assemble the burgers by placing the patties on the buns and adding your favorite toppings and smash burger sauce.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

Serve your Smash Burgers with extra toppings on the side for customization. Pair with a side of fries or salad. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and refrigerated for up to 3 days, or frozen for later. Reheat in a skillet until warmed through.
