Instructions

Burger Sauce Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and Sriracha. Set aside.

Cooking the Burgers

  • Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and add avocado oil.
  • Take the ground beef and divide it into four equal portions, forming each into a loose ball.
  • Place the beef balls on the hot skillet and smash each ball down to form a patty. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Cook the patties for about 2-3 minutes until a crust forms.
  • Carefully flip the patties and add a slice of cheese on top if desired. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts.
  • While the burgers are cooking, toast the hamburger buns on another skillet or in the oven until golden brown.

Assembling the Smash Burgers

  • Spread the burger sauce on the bottom half of each bun, add the cooked burger patty, and top with onions or any other desired toppings.
  • Place the top bun over the assembled burger.

Notes

If you have leftovers, allow the burgers to cool and wrap them in foil or place them in an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in a skillet or microwave when ready to eat. Experiment with different sauces and toppings to find your favorite combination.
