Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Place the chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish, arranging them in a single layer.

Mixing Sauce

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, 1 teaspoon oregano, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, and salt and pepper to taste. Stir until smooth.

Layering

  • Place one slice of mozzarella cheese on top of each chicken breast.
  • Spread the sour cream mixture evenly over each chicken breast, then sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese on top.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 60 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  • Allow the dish to stand for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, marinate the chicken breasts in the sour cream mixture for a few hours before baking. You can also add vegetables like spinach or mushrooms for added nutrition. This dish pairs well with rice, mashed potatoes, or a light salad.
