Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 cups sourdough starter Make sure it's active and bubbly.
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries If using frozen, do not thaw.

Glaze Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cream cheese Can be substituted with ricotta or mascarpone.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, mix the sourdough starter, melted butter, eggs, and milk until well combined.
  • Gradually add flour, sugar, and salt to form a soft dough.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1-2 hours.

Rolling and Rising

  • Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread cream cheese, and sprinkle blueberries on top.
  • Roll the dough tightly and slice into rolls.
  • Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for another hour.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden.
  • For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with vanilla and a little milk until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

Serve these rolls warm or at room temperature. They pair well with coffee or tea. For longer storage, keep in an airtight container for up to three days, or freeze for up to three months.
