Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 whole ham (about 10-12 pounds) You can use spiral-cut or bone-in ham.
  • 1 cup pineapple juice Fresh or canned
  • 1 cup brown sugar Adjust to taste
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • Maraschino cherries for decoration Optional for garnish
  • Pineapple slices (optional) For garnish and flavor

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  • Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern.
  • In a bowl, mix together pineapple juice, brown sugar, honey, and ground cloves.
  • Place the ham in a roasting pan and brush the glaze over it.
  • Optionally, place pineapple slices and cherries on the ham.

Cooking

  • Bake for about 15-18 minutes per pound, basting occasionally with the glaze.
  • Once done, let it rest before slicing and serving.

Notes

Make sure to score the ham well to help the glaze soak in. Basting every 30 minutes keeps it moist. You can add mustard to the glaze for a slight kick. For variations, add fruits like apricots or peaches or a splash of bourbon.
