Danish Pastry Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry Thawed and cold for best results
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar Adjust sweetness as desired
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced Can substitute with other fruits
  • 1 egg beaten For egg wash
  • powdered sugar For dusting before serving

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into squares.
  • In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Spoon the cream cheese mixture onto the center of each pastry square.
  • Top with sliced strawberries.
  • Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling to create a Danish shape.
  • Brush the pastry with beaten egg.

Baking

  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar and serve.

Notes

Best served warm or at room temperature. Pairs well with coffee or tea. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge for up to 3 days.
