Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound Fresh Strawberries Use ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
  • cup Sugar Adjust to taste. More sugar for sweeter sauce.
  • 2 teaspoons Lemon Juice Fresh lemon juice enhances flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch Use for thickening the sauce.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Mix cut strawberries, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, and 1/3 cup sugar in a medium pot.
  • Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring regularly.
  • Reduce heat to a simmer and whisk occasionally until sauce thickens, about 20–23 minutes.
  • After turning off the heat, let it cool to room temperature. Remember that the sauce thickens slightly as it cools and more in the fridge.

Notes

To store strawberry sauce, let it cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container. It can be kept in the refrigerator for up to one week. If you want to keep it longer, you can freeze it in freezer-safe bags or containers for up to three months. For a smoother sauce, blend it after cooking to your desired consistency.
