For the shortcake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour For best results, use a spoon to measure.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted Allow to cool slightly before mixing in.
  • 1 cup milk Whole milk works best for richness.
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract For flavor enhancement.

For the topping

  • 4 cups strawberries, sliced Fresh strawberries are preferred.
  • 1 cup whipped cream Homemade or store-bought.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a large baking sheet.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  • Spread the batter onto the greased baking sheet evenly.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Let cool completely before slicing.

Serving

  • Once cooled, slice the shortcake and layer with sliced strawberries and whipped cream.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For added flavor, you can macerate strawberries with a bit of sugar and lemon juice for 30 minutes before serving.
