  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 pound store-bought or homemade pound cake, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups whipped cream or Cool Whip
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, toss the sliced strawberries with sugar and let them sit for about 10-15 minutes to release their juices.
  • In a large bowl, mix the whipped cream with the vanilla extract until it reaches a fluffy consistency.

Layering

  • Layer half of the pound cake cubes at the bottom of a trifle dish or individual cups.
  • Add half of the strawberries over the cake layer.
  • Follow up with half of the whipped cream mixture.
  • Repeat the layering process with the remaining ingredients.

Finishing Touches

  • Top with any remaining strawberries and a sprig of mint if desired.
  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
