  • 6 slices fresh white bread (or bread of choice)
  • 12-14 ounces strawberry cream cheese (softened to room temperature) Ensure cream cheese is softened for easy spreading.
  • 6-8 pieces fresh strawberries Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor.

Preparation

  • Spread one side of each slice of bread with cream cheese.
  • Using a cookie cutter, cut two hearts out of each slice of bread. Save the scraps for snacking.
  • Slice the strawberries into thin slices and arrange them on the cream cheese.
  • For open-faced sandwiches, top all 12 hearts with strawberries.
  • For closed-faced sandwiches, top 6 hearts with strawberries and cover them with the remaining 6 hearts.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a day. For optimal taste, eat them the same day they are made. Assemble just before serving to prevent sogginess.
