  • 1 pound ground beef (or ground bison) For a flavorful twist, ground bison can be used.
  • 2 cups Brussels sprouts, halved
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce Available in the international aisle of grocery stores.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For sautéing.
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional) For extra heat.
  • Cooked rice or quinoa, for serving
  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  • Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion is translucent.
  • Increase the heat to high and add the ground beef or bison to the skillet. Break it up into small pieces and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  • Stir in the halved Brussels sprouts and season with salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the sprouts are tender.
  • Drizzle the sweet chili sauce and soy sauce over the beef mixture. Stir well and let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Serve hot over cooked rice or quinoa and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Notes

For storing leftovers, place in an airtight container; they will remain fresh for up to 3 days. For freezing, use a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. Reheat in short intervals in the microwave or on the stovetop.
