  • 1 pound ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Consider whole wheat or gluten-free versions.
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Can be substituted with tamari for gluten-free.
  • 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional) Adds crunch and visual appeal.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, green onions, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, minced garlic, minced ginger, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
  • Form the mixture into meatballs about 1-inch in diameter.
  • Place meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through and browned.
  • Optional: Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of meatballs just before serving.

Notes

For optimum flavor, serve hot or warm, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds. Perfect over rice or noodles. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
