  • 1 cup long-grain rice Rinse before cooking to remove excess starch.
  • 2 cups chicken broth Use vegetable broth for a vegetarian version.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Heat until shimmering.
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika

  • In a medium saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat until shimmering.
  • Add 1 cup of long-grain rice to the pan and toast, stirring frequently for 2-3 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Pour in 2 cups of chicken broth, add onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover and reduce to a simmer. Cook for 18-20 minutes until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  • Remove from heat and let sit covered for an additional 5 minutes to steam.
  • Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.

Notes

Best served hot. Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro. Pairs well with grilled meats and salads. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
