Preparation

  • Step 1: Melt the Butter - In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Step 2: Stir in Sugar, Corn Syrup, and Salt - Stir in the sugar, corn syrup, and salt until combined.
  • Step 3: Bring to a Boil - Bring the mixture to a gentle boil while stirring constantly, reaching 300°F (149°C) on your candy thermometer.
  • Step 4: Add Vanilla Extract - Carefully remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Step 5: Pour and Spread - Pour the mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and spread it evenly.
  • Step 6: Chocolate Topping (Optional) - If using, sprinkle chocolate chips on top while still warm and spread them.
  • Step 7: Nuts (Optional) - Top with chopped nuts if desired.
  • Step 8: Cool and Break - Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
