  • 10 pieces Corn tortillas
  • 2-3 inches Vegetable oil For frying
  • to taste Salt Add while chips are hot

Preparation

  • Cut corn tortillas into triangle shapes, using a sharp knife or pizza cutter to slice each tortilla into 6-8 wedges.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat, about 2-3 inches deep, until it reaches 375°F.

Frying

  • Fry the tortilla triangles in batches until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes, turning halfway through.
  • Remove chips and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt while they’re still hot.

Serving

  • Serve hot with sour cream, salsa, or guacamole. Optionally garnish with fresh herbs or a dash of lime.

Notes

Store leftover tortilla chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze them in a single layer and transfer to a freezer bag for up to a month.
