  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure your butter is softened at room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Reduce if using salted butter.

Topping Ingredients

  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips Use quality chocolate for richer taste.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Baking

  • Scoop spoonfuls of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  • Once out of the oven, let the cookies cool slightly, then drizzle with caramel sauce.
  • Melt the milk chocolate chips and drizzle over the caramel.
  • Allow to cool completely before serving.

Notes

These cookies are great on their own or served with milk or ice cream. Store them in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage. Consider adding a pinch of sea salt on top before cooling for added flavor.
