Ingredients

Cookie Base

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour For the best result, spoon the flour into the measuring cup instead of scooping directly.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda This little helper ensures your cookies rise beautifully.
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Always let your butter come to room temperature for a creamy texture.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Adds sweetness and contributes to that lovely crisp in your cookie edges.
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar Brings moisture and a hint of caramel flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Balances the sweetness perfectly.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Elevates the flavor.
  • 2 large eggs I like to use room-temperature eggs for easier mixing.
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Semi-sweet or dark chocolate for a richer taste.
  • to taste festive sprinkles or white chocolate for drizzling Optional but adds a splash of whimsy.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures even baking for perfect golden brown cookies.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until smooth.
  • Beat in the vanilla, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Drop spoonfuls of batter onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Sprinkle festive sprinkles on top, if desired.

Baking

  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until the edges are golden and the centers are soft.
  • Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Optional: Drizzle with melted white chocolate after cooling.

Notes

Ensure butter and eggs are at room temperature for best texture. Don’t overmix ingredients.
