Batter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar can substitute with honey or maple syrup for a healthier version
  • 1 cup milk can substitute with almond milk for a vegan option
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted can use coconut oil for a vegan option
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir until well blended.
  • Gradually stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  • Pour the cherry pie filling into a greased baking dish and spread it evenly.
  • Carefully pour the batter over the cherry filling without stirring.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
