  • 2 pounds potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon thyme (optional) adds extra flavor

Other

  • 2 tablespoons butter for greasing the baking dish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, garlic, salt, pepper, and thyme.
  • Grease a baking dish with butter.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
  • Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle with half of the cheddar cheese.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, cream, and cheddar cheese.
  • Top with grated Parmesan cheese.

Cooking

  • Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the top is golden and crispy.
  • Let it sit for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until heated through. For added variety, mix different cheeses or add vegetables like spinach or broccoli.
