Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 mix)
  • to taste Kosher salt
  • to taste Freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 pieces Burger buns Any type of burger bun
  • 4 slices Cheese slices (optional) Use of choice cheese

Toppings and Condiments

  • as desired Toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, etc.)
  • as desired Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, etc.)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your griddle or skillet over high heat to around 375°F.
  • Divide the ground beef into balls, about 3-4 ounces each, keeping them loose.

Cooking

  • Place the beef balls on the hot surface and smash them down into flat patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Season the patties generously with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  • Cook the patties undisturbed for 2-3 minutes until a crust forms.
  • Flip the patties, add cheese on top if desired, and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  • Toast the burger buns cut-side down on the griddle until warm and slightly crispy.

Assembly and Serving

  • Assemble the burgers with your desired toppings and condiments on the toasted buns.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy your flavorful smash burger hot off the grill.

Notes

Leftover smash burgers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. They can also be frozen for up to 2 months.
